Rastriya Swatantra Party President (RSP) Rabi Lamichhane has paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday.
In the hour-long meeting convened at the Prime Minister’s Official Residence in Lok Kalyan Marg, New Delhi, two leaders discussed bolstering bilateral ties through development diplomacy, cross-border linkages and digital connectivity.
Taking to X following the meeting, President Lamichhane said, "….By focusing on shared civilizational bonds, digital corridors, and seamless connectivity, we can truly build a partnership defined by progress and mutual trust. RSP looks forward to translating these possibilities into reality for people of Nepal and India - for our shared prosperity."
In response, Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, expressed strong commitment to strengthening ties with Nepal during the meeting with President Rabi Lamichhane.
In the meeting that lasted for an hour, the two leaders discussed bilateral cooperation, the relationship between RSP and BJP and mutual growth, underscoring the deep-rooted bonds between the two neighboring nations, as well as various other dimensions. Prime Minister Modi emphasized India's readiness to closely collaborate with Nepal's new government administration to further enhance their diplomatic partnership.
"I am extremely delighted to have the opportunity to meet with President of Rastriya Swatantra Party of Nepal, Mr Rabi Lamichhane. I welcome your aspiration to work together for a shared and prosperous future, and I fully agree with it," Mentioned Prime Minister Modi, "Under our Neighborhood First policy, Nepal is a priority partner, and we are eager to collaborate with the new government to elevate the unique and multifaceted relationship between our two countries to new heights."
The discussions signal a continued momentum in India-Nepal relations, focusing on shared prosperity, regional stability, and multifaceted collaboration across various sectors.
On that occasion, the Indian External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar, Prime Minister Modi's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, among others, was present.
Similarly, from the Nepalese side, President Lamichhane, his spouse Nikita Paudel, the RSP leaders Bipin Acharya and Deepak Bohara, as well as senior officials of the Nepali embassy in New Delhi, were present during the meeting.
Lamichhane, who is currently on a five-day official visit to India, has already held meetings with Home Minister of India, Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Bharatiya Janata Party President Nitin Nabin.
He will also interact with the Nepali community and his supporters residing in India. Following the meeting he is scheduled to go to Ayodhya, a religious city. He will return home on June 5.
