Over Rs 100 mln recovered from university teachers exploiting study leave

 The Tribhuvan University (TU) teachers who did not return to the service after taking long study leave have started depositing the mandatory amount.

After the government's concern to the harms caused to the University after misusing the study leave, the University teachers who did not return to the service after hiatus of study leave have started returning the money.

According to the TU, so far 41 university teachers have deposited money to the University Pension Fund, totaling over Rs 140.65 million.

Coordinator of the Probe Committee, Dr Jeewan Kafle informed that 41 out of 191 university teachers taking study leave have returned the money. Likewise, 62 teachers have submitted applications to the committee for returning the money.

The TU has intensified its efforts to retain the misused money with the follow-up from the ministry end.

It is stated that the public money amounting to Rs two billion has been at loss when the university teachers did not return to the service.

According to the university rules, the employee and teachers are allowed to take study leave up to five years, under the condition that they return to service or pay a penalty if failed to do so.
