Janata Samajbadi Party leader Saroj Kumar Yadav has been appointed as the Chief Minister of Madhesh Province.
Madhesh Province Chief Hari Shankar Mishra appointed JSP parliamentary party leader Yadav as the Chief Minister of the province.
A total of 63 lawmakers including 16 from JSP, 23 from CPN (UML), 13 from Janamat Party, nine from Maoist Center, one each from RPP and Sanghiya Samajbadi Party and two independent lawmakers (Surita Sah and Aniruddha Singh) have supported Yadav.
Fifty-four lawmakers are required to make up a simple majority in the 107-member Madhesh Province.
Chief Minister-elect Yadav is scheduled to take oath of office and secrecy on January 13.
Province Governor Mishra had called on the parties to stake claim for the post of chief minister with the backing of two or more than two parties by January 12 (4 pm).
