CPN (UML) parliamentary party leader Rajendra Singh Rawal has been appointed as the chief minister of Sudurpashchim Province.
Sudurpashchim Province Chief Devraj Joshi appointed Rawal to the post after he laid his claim for the chief ministership in the province with the support of 29 lawmakers.
Support from 27 provincial assembly members is required to form a government in the 53-member Sudurpashchim provincial assembly.
Rawal has the support of 29 lawmakers including 11 from CPN (Maoist Center), 10 from CPN (UML), 7 from Nagarik Unmukti Party and 1 from Rastriya Prajatantra Party.
Rawal had been elected as a lawmaker from Kanchanpur under the proportional representation category.
