One killed, 20 injured in Syangja jeep accident

A person died and 20 others sustained injuries in a passenger jeep accident that occurred in Syangja on Friday afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as 25-year-old Rajendra Birkatta of Waling-7, according to the District Police Office, Syangja. A total of 22 people were traveling in the jeep.

 The accident occurred when a double-cap Bolero jeep bearing the number BAA 7905 heading to Waling from Tapke met with an accident on the Mirdi-Chapakot road section in Lovely Danda, Waling Municipality-7.

Of the 22 people on board the jeep, 20 were injured. After receiving general treatment at the Primary Health Center Waling, Syangja, 17 people have been referred to Pokhara for further treatment, while 2 people have been sent to Butwal. A child is being treated at the Primary Health Center Waling.

The District Police Office, Syangja, has said that further investigation is underway after taking into custody the jeep driver, Min Bahadur Saru, 28, of Waling 7, Syangja.
