Nepal is experiencing widespread rainfall today as the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) reports generally cloudy skies across the country. Light to moderate rains are already affecting several areas in the Koshi, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, alongside scattered rain in Bagmati, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim.

The weather is expected to intensify this afternoon and into the night. According to meteorologists, hilly and mountainous regions will see moderate rain and snowfall accompanied by thunderstorms. Crucially, the MFD has issued alerts for heavy rainfall in isolated pockets of the hilly terrains across almost all provinces, which will persist into the night.

Kathmandu Valley is bracing for a soggy weekend, with meteorologists predicting a continuous three-day wet spell. While the capital experienced brief respites this morning, moderate showers are expected to resume by late afternoon. Experts warn that the rainfall will peak tomorrow, Friday, with heavy downpours anticipated across the valley.

Meanwhile, the Flood Forecasting Division has issued a mid-level flash flood advisory for today. Residents living near small rivers and streams in seven key districts—Palpa, Dang, Kapilvastu, Rupandehi, Sindhupalchowk, Dolakha, and Bhojpur—are urged to remain highly vigilant as water levels are expected to rise rapidly.
