Dr Sanduk Ruit’s expectations will be taken seriously: PM Dahal

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said the state will seriously take concerns of Isa Awardee Ophthalmologist Dr. Sanduk Ruit.

Extending his congratulations to Dr. Ruit on being bestowed the prestigious Isa Award, PM Dahal lauded his outstanding and commendable contributions to the human welfare.

Speaking at a press conference held at Tilganga Eye Hospital on Wednesday after the announcement of the award, Dr. Ruit also said that he was observing how would this news be received.

PM Prachanda has said he will take Ruit's expectations from the state seriously. 

"The government will take his expectations from the state seriously," Prachanda said.

Following the news of Isa Award, voices are being raised on social media that Dr. Ruit should be the president of the country.

However, Dr. Ruit said he is not interested in the position. "In a democracy, the credentials and credibility of the president are greater. We all must increase the dignity of the President, he said, 'We should also look at the position of the President in India. However, this is not for me. I understand my limitations and position very well.”

Dr Ruit, who has succeeded in showing the beautiful world to 188,000 people who had lost their eyesight, was announced to be honored with the world-famous Isa Award on Tuesday.

As mansy as 149 organizations were nominated for the 'Isa Award for Service to Humanity' established in the name of the former King of Bahrain, Sheikh Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa. However, Dr Ruit managed to bag the award of one million USD (NRS 130 million). 

Eye lenses made by Dr. Ruit's team in Nepal are currently sent abroad as much as 300,000 per year. Now, he plans to increase the number and send 1 to 1.5 million a year.

He said that he hasn't made any decisions yet about where he will use the award money.
