The First Waling Gold Cup Tournament was taking place at the football ground in Waling municipality-8 today (Thursday).
A lot of football enthusiasts were watching the semi-final match between Waling Red and Cameroon team.
Out of the blue appeared a helicopter in the sky when the first half of the match was underway.
No sooner the spectators looked up in the sky, than the helicopter, 9N-ALX, landed on the ground, blowing away a thick cloud of dust around it. Players dispersed.
“The first half of the match was taking place. All of a sudden, a helicopter appeared in the sky and landed in the ground,” said LB Jwarchan, the chairman of the Waling Youth Club, “This is a big blunder on the part of the pilot. Players scuttled off to safety. Luckily nothing untoward happened.”
When the event unfolded, Binod Gaire, Khim Bahadur Thapa, Sushil Giri, Sushil Thapa of Waling municipality-9, had chartered a helicopter to Waling for Rs 40,000. Ramesh Dangol was the pilot of Prabhu helicopter.
With the landing of the helicopter, the players and the organizers were enraged. The irate mob of players and organizers started attacking captain Dangol. His nose and mouth started bleeding.
Chairman Jwarchan cited Dangol as saying that he was forced to land in the ground at the request of the passengers.
Chairman of Waling municipality-8, Damodar Tiwari also claimed that it was a big negligence on the part of the pilot to land on the ground when the football tournament was in full swing.
Chief District Officer of Syangja Ganga Bahadur Chhetri said the helicopter had not informed the district administration about its plan to land in the football ground.
There was a brawl between the two sides following the landing of the helicopter. Dangol flew the helicopter to Pokhara to save his life.
Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal informed the administration that it has initiated an action against the unruly chopper.
