Maoist Center and Unified Socialist to unify

A formal talks has begun for the unification between CPN (Maoist Center) and CPN (Unified Socialist).

The party unification coordination committee formed by the two parties initiated talks for the unification on Sunday. In the first meeting, the six-member talks panel dwelled on the party unification, present situation, and future political course of the two parties, sources said.

The talks panel is comprised of Krishna Bahadur Mahara (coordinator), Giriraj Mani Pokharel and Shakti Basnet from the Maoist Center while Beduram Bhusal (coordinator), Prakash Jwala, and Bijaya Paudel represent the Unified Socialist.

Leader Madhav Nepal had defected to form Unified Socialist following the dissolution of the then Nepal Community Party. Now it has initiated talks to unify with the Maoist Center.
