Senior Advocate Gajendra Acharya has been appointed as the chief attorney of Province 1.
Province Chief Parshuram Khapung on Wednesday appointed Acharya to the post on the recommendation of Chief Minister Hikmat Karki.
Karki had recommended Province Chief Khapung to appoint Acharya as the chief attorney in line with Article 160 (2) of the constitution of Nepal.
There is a constitutional provision that province chief appoints the chief attorney on the recommendation of the chief minister.
Chief attorney, who enjoys pay, perks and facilities at an equal footing as the judge of High Court, is the legal advisor of the province government
