Ruling CPN (Maoist Center) has decided that the candidate for the post of new president should be acceptable to all parties.
A standing committee (SC) meeting held at the central party headquarters on Thursday concluded that a candidate for the post of the new president should be acceptable to all the political parties, said a standing committee member Devendra Paudel.
“The president should be elected in the way as the prime minister received the vote of confidence from all the political parties on January 10,” said Paudel, “A common candidate for the post of president is necessary as it reigns supreme and is the savior of the constitution.”
The Maoist Center is in favor of national consensus for the candidate of the President, he further said, referring to A.P.J. Abdul Kamal, the former president of India, on whom the national consensus had been forged.
