Rabi Lamichhane has tendered his resignation as the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.
Lamichhane who exited from the Ministry of Home Affairs in his private vehicle went straight to Baluwatar and tendered the resignation to the prime minister.
Hearing on the writ related to Lamichhane’s citizenship case, Supreme Court on Friday issued a verdict declaring him a non-Nepali citizen. With the verdict, Lamichhane has been stripped of the Member of Parliament.
He tendered his resignation as the DPM and HM following the Supreme Court Verdict.
He had been appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister and the Home Minister on December 26.
With the verdict of the Supreme Court, the post of lawmaker of Lamichhane who was elected from Chitwan-2 on November 20 has also been revoked.
Now, the by-election will be held in this constituency.
