Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song paid a courtesy call on Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Narayan Kaji Shrestha on Sunday.
In the meeting held at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport in Singha Durbar this morning, Ambassador Song and Minster Shrestha dwelled on the mutual interests, bilateral ties and the projects initiated by China in the Himalayan country.
In the meeting they congratulated each other on their new responsibilities and wished a successful tenure, said Keshav Kumar Sharma, the secretary at the ministry.
Wishing Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Song a successful tenure, Deputy Prime Minister Shrestha expressed belief that the peoples-to-peoples relations between the two countries would reach a new high in his term in office.
While Shrestha urged the Chinese Ambassador to expedite the Kalanki-Chabahil road up-gradation project in the meeting, the China side urged DPM Shrestha to remove the hurdles situated on the road section before resuming the project.
Likewise, DPM Shrestha also drew the attention of the Chinese Ambassador towards opening the Tokha-Chhahare tunnel project, Sankhuwasabha-Kimathanka track apart form opening the Nepal-China border checkpoints.
