Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah has drawn the attention of the Prime Minister to solve the problem of squatter settlements.
Mayor Shah, who reached the government residence Baluwatar to meet the Prime Minister on Monday morning, discussed various problems associated with the metropolis.
According to Mayor Shah's personal secretary Bhupadev Shah, during the meeting, the issue of removing squatter settlements in Bagmati Corridor was also discussed.
"During the meeting with the Prime Minister, various issues related to the metropolis were discussed," Private Secretary Shah told Nepal Khabar, "Various issues related to urban development were discussed."
Mayor Shah also discussed the issue of squatter settlement management with Prime Minister Prachanda.
In response, Prime Minister Prachanda said that he would discuss this issue with stakeholders. "The Prime Minister has said that we should have a good discussion", he said, "He also said that he will get information from the relevant agencies."
Earlier, the attempt made by the metropolis to remove the squatter settlements in the Bagmati Corridor at Thapathali had failed.
The city retreated after the locals attacked the city's security personnel who were there to remove the settlement.
