US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland has met Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda at the latter’s official residence in Baluwatar.
In the meeting, the two leaders discussed bilateral cooperations and other issues of mutural interests between Nepal and the US.
“Prime Minister Dahal received US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland at Baluwatar this morning. Various matters related to bilateral cooperation and other issues of mutual interests were discussed during the meeting,” PM’s Secretariat tweeted.
US diplomat Nuland arrived in Nepal on Sunday evening.
During her two-day visit to Nepal, she is scheduled to hold high-level political meetings including Foreign Minister Bimala Rai Paudyal, according to the US Embassy in Kathmandu.
Besides, she will also be going on an observation tour to experience the cultural heritage of the capital.
Nuland assumed office as the Under-Secretary state for Political Affairs in April 2021.
A diplomat for thirty-three years, she has served as the Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs from September 2013 to January 2017 under US President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry.
After Nepal, she will also visit India and Sri Lanka.
