Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and visiting US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Victoria Nuland, have held a meeting.

The meeting between the two leaders took place at the residence of Deuba in Dhumbarahi.

In the meeting, Deuba and Nuland dwelled on ways to further strengthen mutual interests, bilateral ties and good government between Nepal and the United States.

“Had a wonderful meeting with US under Secretary @ UnderSecStateP. We discussed ways to further strengthen our bilateral relationship and cooperation in democracy, development and good governance. I thanked her for the continued support of the US to Nepal, which is highly valued,” Deuba tweeted after the meeting.

US diplomat Nuland arrived in Nepal on Sunday evening becoming the top US diplomat to visit Nepal after Prime Minister Dahal became the prime minister in last December.

During her two-day visit to Nepal, she is scheduled to hold high-level political meetings, according to the US Embassy in Kathmandu.

Besides, she will also be going on an observation tour to experience the cultural heritage of the capital.

Nuland assumed office as the Under-Secretary state for Political Affairs in April 2021.

A diplomat for thirty-three years, she has served as the Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs from September 2013 to January 2017 under US President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry.

After Nepal, she will also visit India and Sri Lanka.
