The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has warned that it would pull out of the government if its Chairman Rabi Lamichhane were not appointed as Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister by today evening.

On Tuesday morning, Lamichhane met with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and asked the latter to re-appoint him as the home minister.

The post of the Home Ministry had been allocated to the RSP in the power-sharing deal reached among the coalition partners.

According to Lamichhane's secretariat, “The RSP is going to quit the government if the Chairman Rabi Lamichhane is not appointed as Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister by Tuesday evening.”

After Prime Minister Prachanda said that he would consult the other leaders of the ruling coalition without giving a concrete answer, he gave the Tuesday evening deadline.

With the Supreme Court's verdict on the citizenship on last Friday, Lamichhane was removed from the post of the Home Minister, lawmaker and the chairman of the RSP.

After he regained the citizenship on Sunday, he was reappointed as the party chairman.

Now, he is trying to re-enter the cabinet as a non-parliamentary minister. He reached Baluwatar this morning to discuss the same issue.

There has been intense pressure within the Maoist Center to keep the Home Ministry itself.

On the other hand CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli has been reiterating that Lamichhane should be reappointed as the home minister.
