The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), the national cricket governing body, has decided to hold elections in May.
A central executive committee meeting of the CAN underway in Pokhara decided to hold the elections four months before the expiry of its original term after it courted controversy over the charges of spot-fixing.
“A central meeting of the CAN underway in Pokhara decided to hold a general meeting on February 26-27. The election will be held in May following the general conclave,” a CAN member told Nepalkhabar.
Meanwhile, CAN acting secretary Prashant Bikram Malla has resigned from his post over the Nepal T20 League controversy.
He submitted his resignation to the central meeting of the association held in Pokhara.
Malla, who chaired the governing council of the Nepal T20 League, tendered his resignation after the council courted controversy over the charges of spot-fixing.
Meanwhile, central member Durga Raj Pathak has been appointed to Malla's post.
Earlier, seven members among the 19-member central committee had sought the resignation of Malla among top five officials including CAN President Chatur Bahadur Chand.
The meeting of the association which started yesterday is ending today.
