Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has expressed his commitment to institutionalize federalism by empowering provincial governments.

Prime Minister Dahal expressed this commitment with Chief Minister of Province 1, Hikmat Karki, during a meeting held at Baluwatar on Wednesday morning.

In the meeting, Chief Minister Karki urged the Prime Minister to strengthen the federal governments by formulating Civil Services Act, Federal Education Act and Federal Police Act at the earliest.

It has been one month since a seven-member cabinet was formed in Province 1. Two more ministers are yet to be appointed to the nine-minister cabinet.

Dahal's commitment has come at a time when some political forces are voicing concerns over the relevancy of the provincial government arguing that it just turned out to be a white elephant to only bleed the state coffers dry.
