Cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane, who served a jail term for 99 days on the charge of raping a minor girl, has joined the closed training session of the National Cricket Team from Thursday.
Lamichhane, who was released on January 13 after 99 days in the prision, has been called to the closed training session by the Cricket Association Nepal (CAN) from today.
A total of 20 cricketers including Lamichhane have been called for the training session, according to the national cricket governing body.
He was willing to resume his cricket career after High Court, Patan released him on a bail of Rs 2 million.
Addressing his demand, a central committee meeting of the Cricket Association Nepal (CAN) held in Pokhara on January 31 decided to lift the suspension on him.
With this, Lamichhane is likely to play the tri-nation series to be held at TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur on February 14 under World Cricket League 2.
However, the Office of the Attorney General on Wednesday lodged a writ at the Supreme Court seeking Sandeep’s detention challenging the decision of High Court, Patan.
