Pashupati chock-a-block with devotees on Mahashivaratri (with photos)

Mahashivaratri festival is celebrated across the country with ritualistic worship and homage today.

Today (Saturday), all the temples in the country, including Pashupatinath, were full of devotees since early morning.

All four gates to Pashupatinath Temple were opened since 3 am.

A large number of devotees from different parts of the country and neighboring country India also came to Pashupati for homage.

According to Gauri Shankar Parajuli, the information officer at the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) Culture Division, 5,000 security personnel, and 4,000 volunteers have been deployed to make a systematic arrangement for devotees.  

On the occasion of Mahashivaratri, more than 500,000 sadhus have arrived at Pashupati area. The PADT has arranged food, lodging, and accommodation for the sadhus since Thursday.
