Eight-party meeting underway at Baluwatar

A meeting of the eight political parties is taking place at Prime Minister's official residence, Baluwatar in Kathmandu with the aim of discussing impending presidential election and contemporary political issues.

Attending the meeting are Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Nepali Congress' President Sher Bahadur Deuba, former Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai and CPN (Unified Socialist) General-Secretary Beduram Bhusal.

Furthermore, Janata Samajbadi Party leader Rajendra Shrestha and Lokatantrik Samajwadi Party Chairperson Mahantha Thakur are also attending the meeting.

The ruling coalition has fielded Ram Chandra Poudel as its common candidate for the March 9 presidential election.
