Nepal defeated home team UAE by 42 runs in an ODI tri-series of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 held at Dubai International Stadium on Monday.
With this win, Nepal climbed the 5th position of the the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2. Nepal emerged victorious after they restricted UAE to paltry 187 runs in 45 overs while the latter were chasing the 230-run target.
Dipendra Singh Airee and Sompal Kami grabbed three wickets each while Karan KC, Sandeep Lamichhane and Aarif Sheikh took one wicket each for Nepal.
UAE's Asif Khan made the highest 82 runs followed by Aryan Lakra with 50 runs while Vriitya Aravind contributed 13 runs. The other batsmen could not score double-digit runs.
Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss Nepal notched up 229 runs losing eight wickets in the allotted 50 overs.
Bhim Sharki topped the score with 70 runs including seven fours off 99 balls followed by Aarif Sheikh with 43 runs while Kushal Malla made 32 runs.
In reply, Junaid Siddique claimed the highest three wickets while Rohan Mustafa and Aryan Lakra grabbed two wickets each for UAE.
