Nepal set a mammoth 298-run target for Papua New Guinea (PNG) in a tri-series match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2.
Invited to bat first after losing the toss, Nepal notched up 297 runs in 49.1 overs losing all wickets.
Aasif Sheikh topped the score with 110 runs including 12 fours and two sixes off 110 balls. Similarly, Kushal Bhurtel made 45 balls while Bhim Sharki contributed 44 runs.
In reply, Semo Kamea took the highest five wickets followed by Riley Hekure with 3 wickets while Alei Nao claimed one wicket.
It requires for Nepal to win all remaining four matches under the series to remain within top three positions under the League.
Similarly, Nepal have to win two matches to retain its ODI status.
Out of the total 36 matches under the League, Nepal played 32 so far securing 32 points. They have been placed in the fifth position.
