Home team Nepal is competing against Papua New Guinea (PNG) today on Monday in the ICC World Cup League 2 triangular one-day match.
The match will start at 9:30 am at TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
After defeating PNG by 52 runs in the first match of the series, Nepal wants to repeat the same result in the second match as well.
Earlier on Sunday, Nepal, who retained ODI status for 4 years by defeating UAE by a wide margin of 177 runs, will enter the field in high spirits.
After winning the remaining two matches of the Series, Nepal is planning to stay in the top 3 and directly qualify for the World Cup.
The Nepali team will take the field in the bid to set another record by qualifying for the World Cup.
On the other hand, Papua New Guinea, which is at the bottom of the group stage, will take the game for play-off qualification preparations.
PNG will now have to play in the play-offs to qualify for the World Cup.
Even if Nepal wins, there will be no change in PNG's points table.
Having played 34 matches of League 2, Nepal has won 17 matches and lost 15 matches and is in the fourth place in the table with 36 points.
Nepal will add 2 points to the points table if they beat PNG in today's match.
After defeating UAE in the last match of League 2 series, Nepal will climb to the third position by scoring 40 points. And will make a place in the World Cup qualifiers.
Even with only one loss in the series, Nepal will have to go through the playoffs to qualify for the World Cup.
Out of 34 games, UAE has won 14 games and lost 17 games and is in sixth place with 31 points.
With 5 wins and 28 losses from the same matches, PNG is at the bottom of the table with 11 points.
Having played all the matches of League 2, America is in fifth place with 35 points, having won 16 and lost 17. With Nepal's victory on Sunday, America has dropped one place.
