President of China, Xi Jinping, and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin signed a joint statement on behalf of their respective countries, The Diplomatic Insight reported.
The statement was titled “Deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Coordination for New Era and Stress-Free Resolution of Ukrainian Conflict Through Dialogue.”
The Joint Declaration of the People’s Republic of China and the Russian Federation on Deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Coordination for the New Age was signed and made public at the Kremlin in Moscow on the afternoon of March 21 local time.
Both agreed that international law must be maintained while also adhering to the goals and tenets of the United Nations Charter with regard to the Ukraine issue.
The Russian side praised China’s impartiality and objectivity in regard to the Ukraine problem.
Along these lines, the two sides opposed any nation or group of nations taking advantage of other nations’ legitimate security interests in order to further their own military, political, or other agendas
China expressed gratitude that the Russian side reiterated its commitment to the swift resumption of peace negotiations.
Moreover, the Chinese side’s determination to contribute positively to the political and diplomatic resolution of the Ukraine crisis was warmly welcomed by the Russian side.
Russia also welcomed the beneficial suggestions made in China’s Position on the Political Settlement of the Ukraine Problem.
The two parties agreed that to resolve the Ukraine problem, it was important to respect the legitimate security concerns of all nations, avoid bloc confrontation, and refrain from fanning the flames.
Also, they emphasized that having a responsible conversation is the greatest approach to getting the right answers. Hence, in order to achieve this, the international community should support pertinent positive actions.
To prevent the crisis from worsening or perhaps spiraling out of control, the two sides demanded that all actions that increase tensions and prolong the combat be stopped.
Lastly, any unilateral sanctions that are not authorized by the UN Security Council were opposed by both sides. (The Diplomatic Insight)
