Flying drones around the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) has been banned.

Flying drones within five kilometers of the TIA surroundings is punishable as per the laws, according to a notice issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN). It cited aviation safety.

Flying drones around TIA vicinities poses serious risks to aviation safety, and anyone involved in such activities is subject to stern action, said the CAAN.

Although the Drone related Rules, 2021 has prohibited flying drones around airports, the rules are found to have been violated by flying drones around airports, said the CAAN.
