Pro-identity organizations have begun to launch personal attacks against the naming of Province 1 as 'Koshi', undermining the identity.
A few days ago, they tried to attack CPN (UML) provincial Member of Parliament (MP) PK Rai in Khotang and attacked a minister's house in Kathmandu on Wednesday morning.
The house of Buddhi Kumar Rajbhandari, the Provincial MP of UML elected from Solukhumbu and Social Development Minister of Koshi Province, was attacked at the wee hours on Wednesday.
UML Solukhumbu has claimed that some people who came in guerilla style broke into Minister Rajbhandari's house based at Pepsicola in Kathmandu at 5:30 am today.
Meanwhile, UML Solukhumbu District Committee Chairman Dufkumar Bastola issued a statement following the incident today saying that some people barged into the house of Minister Rajbhandari in a guerilla style and ransacked it.
"We are saddened by the incident of some people breaking into the house of Social Development Minister Buddhi Kumar Rajbhandari at Pepsicola in Kathmandu,” he said, "The physical attack on a person's private property over the issue of naming Koshi province is highly reprehensible and regrettable.”
He said that the issue of naming Koshi province is political one and it should be resolved politically.
"This kind of criminal attack carried out intimidating the family can divide our society and destroy social harmony and eventually lead to conflict," the statement said.
He also stated that the government has been requested to take action against those involved in the vandalism in line with the prevailing law.
