8 killed, 6 injured in Uttar Pradesh road mishap

Eight people died and six others were seriously injured in a road accident on the national highway at Shravasti in the Indian State of Uttar Pradesh Saturday morning.

Police said that the accident took place when their vehicle, which had come from Ludhiana to attend a mourning ceremony organized over the death of a relative, rammed a tree in the area of Ikauna Police Station.

Stating that eight people died on the spot, Shravasti Police Superintendent Prachi Singh informed that six people who were seriously injured were sent to Bahraich Hospital.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the accident and expressed his condolences to the bereaved families.

Also, he wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
