Darchula avalanche: 3 bodies out of 5 five missing found

The bodies of three out of five people who went missing in an avalanche at Bholum Danda in Byas Rural Municipality-1, Chhangru, Darchula on Tuesday have been found.

The body was found by the team assigned to Chhangru from Number 50 Company of the Armed Police Force. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Shailendra Thapa informed that efforts are being made to retrieve the bodies.

According to DSP Thapa, the body of 18-year-old Prabin Kunwar of Dunhu Rural Municipality has been identified. The bodies of two women are yet to be identified.

A team of 21 people under the command of DSP Ishwari Dutta Bhatta carrying out rescue operations.

On Tuesday afternoon, 12 people who had gone to collect Yarsagumba went missing in the avalanche that hit Bholum Danda in the hill district of Sudurpaschim Province. Seven of them were rescued by the security personnel on Tuesday.

DSP Thapa informed that two women are still missing and their search is on.
