Madan Rai, the founder of Shubhadra Madan Foundation (Shubham), Diktel and agriculture expert, has been remanded to seven more days in custody.
Manjil Mukarung, DSP of District Police Office, Khotang, told Nepalkhabar that the District Court Khotang extended the deadline by seven more days for the investigation into the complaint of child sexual abuse against Rai.
A 16-year-old girl who studied at Shubham Foundation for seven years filed a complaint against 75-year-old Rai last Friday on the charge of sexual abuse.
Acting on the complaint filed against Rai, Khotang police arrested him.
Mukarung said that since Saturday was a public holiday, Rai was brought to court on Sunday and the deadline to investigate the case was extended.
Now the accused is in the custody the District Police Office.
The girl, who filed the complaint, has alleged that Rai touched her body several times during her stay at the Shubham Foundation.
She said that he would teach her to have sex, showed her his private parts and made her touch them.
Earlier, the incident of Madan sexually abusing the schoolgirls kept in the foundation for a long time was reported by the media.
Rai opened a hostel nine years ago with the consent of Jalpa Secondary School in Diktel, where schoolgirls are housed.
