Nepali batsman Sandeep Lamichhane will leave for South Africa on Monday evening for a practice match with the national team.
The Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) is going to send Sandeep to South Africa after the district court in Kathmandu fixed the hearing of the rape case against him on July 14.
CAN Acting Secretary Durga Raj Pathak told Nepalkhabar that Sandeep is leaving for South Africa on Monday evening.
"We have prepared to send Sandeep to South Africa to participate in a practice match with the national team", he told Nepalkhabar, "A decision has been taken to send him to South Africa on Monday evening."
Other members of the national team have left for South Africa on Tuesday to play a practice match.
On January 13, the Patan High Court in its decision had barred him from going abroad. But the Supreme Court canceled the order of the High Court paving the way for Lamichhane to go abroad.
However, Sandeep was not able to go there on Tuesday due to the mandatory provision that he has to appear in the district court every 21 days.
In the meantime, Sandeep's lawyer appealed to the court to postpone the hearing for at least one and a half months.
Sandeep's cricket journey will not be stopped after the application is accepted by the court and the next hearing will be scheduled for July 14.
Nepal will play four practice matches in South Africa. The team will then fly from there to Zimbabwe to participate in the World Cup Global Qualifiers.
Presuming that the absence of Sandeep, who has been doing good both in batting and bowling in the recenlty held matches, would have negative impact on the Nepali team, CAN took the initiative to take Sandeep away.
Now the hearing of the case against him will not be held before July 14. Hence, he can participate in the practice match in South Africa and the qualifying match in Zimbabwe.
