Mahendranagar-based Shiva Shikhar Multi-Purpose Co-operative Society is revealed to have defrauded depositors of 207.8 million rupees.
Two thousand four hundred and ninety-six savers have lodged a joint complaint with the police at the District Police Office Kanchanpur saying that the cooperative has not returned their savings.
Police Inspector Harsha Bahadur Chand, Spokesperson of District Police Office Kanchanpur, said that 2,496 people, who were cheated by Shiva Shikhar Co-operative Society, have filed a joint complaint seeking refund of their hard-earned savings.
Last month, the police asked those who did not get their savings back from the cooperative to submit an application to the police along with their savings pass-books and citizenship cards.
Now Shiva Shikhar Cooperative Society in Mahendranagar is closed.
The depositors have submitted a petition saying that they should get back the money they have deposited.
"We have submitted a petition to the police seeking return of our hard-earned money," depositor Suman Kunwar said.
Shiva Shikhar Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society has its central office in Bhaktapur.
