Deposits in banks and financial institutions hit Rs 5.599 trillion

Deposits in banks and financial institutions have reached 5 trillion 599 billion rupees.

During the same period last year, banks and financial institutions were facing the liquidity crunch. Since the beginning of the year, banks and financial institutions have stopped lending which resulted in the increase in in deposits.

As of June 30, 2023, banks and financial institutions have invested 48 trillion 59 billion rupees in loans.

On the other hand, the credit-deposit ratio (CD ratio) has reached 83.62 percent as the demand for loans decreases and deposits increase.

Banks and financial institutions are allowed to invest up to 90 percent of their credit-deposit ratio.

However, banks and financial institutions have the capacity to provide loans at 6.38 percent.
