The National Assembly (NA)'s meeting has been postponed due to obstructions from the major opposition party - CPN (UML).

NA Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timilsina had permitted parliamentarian Bimala Ghimire to air her views after the UML lawmakers stood from their respective seats as a gesture of protest at the outset of the meeting.

Parliamentarian Ghimire expressed her qualm over Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's recent statement in a public event that an individual had dashed off to Indian capital city-New Delhi-to create an enabling environment for Dahal to become the Prime Minister.

She remarked that the sovereign parliament had the provision of electing a people's representative as the Prime Minister of the country, and the Head of the Government delivering statement that some individual and foreign country taking initiatives to elect Prime Minister was against the constitution and sovereignty of the country.

She clarified that the regular business of the NA meeting could not be taken forward unless the PM tenders his resignation.

NA Chairperson Timilsina urged the protesting parliamentarians to resume the meeting stating that deliberation on Appropriation Bill was due and there was little time left to come to conclusions regarding the Bill.

Timilsina then announced the postponement of the meeting after protesting parliamentarians did not cease to protest.

Deliberation on the various headings under the Appropriation Bill is rescheduled on July 9.

The concerned ministries will be responding to the queries of the parliamentarians on July 10 and 11.

NA is meeting next on July 9 at 11:31 am, the NA Chairperson announced.
