Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli have held a meeting at Baluwatar on Sunday morning.

Oli who reached Baluwatar at 9 am held a meeting with Prime Minister Prachanda for one and a half hours on Koshi Province and the gold smuggling case, a Baluwatar source said.

Koshi Province has been without the government after the Supreme Court cancelled the appointment of Uddav Thapa as the Prime Minister on July 27. Thapa had been appointed as the Prime Minister on July.

The meeting was focused on how to give an outlet to the political stalemate facing Koshi Province, said the Prime Minister’s secretariat.

On the other hand, Hikmat Karki who was reduced into the status of a caretaker prime minister has not been recognized as the caretaker by the Province Chief Parshuram Khapung.

CPN (UML) had earlier laid a claim for the formation of the new government in Koshi Province in line with Article 168 (3) of the Constitution.

Likewise, the ruling alliance formed a new government with Uddhav Thapa as the chief minister with the help of the signature of speaker Baburam Gautam. Thapa-led government has been dissolved in the span of 21 days.

Nepali Congress and Maoist Center are rendering efforts to form a new government by taking Rastriya Prajatantra Party into confidence.

However, RPP has kept mum on this issue. If the government is not formed by August 1, the deadline issued by Khapung, the UML, as the largest party in the provincial assembly, will form the government in line with Article 168 (3).
