Bara bus mishap: Six Indians, one Nepali identified, 17 injured

Seven people who died in a bus accident near Churiamai Temple on the border of Bara and Makwanpur districts have been identified. Six of the dead are from Rajasthan, India and one from Nepal.

According to District Police Office Makwanpur, the deceased are 67-year-old Bahadur Singh from Rajasthan, 60-year-old Satyawati, 70-year-old Rajendra Chaturvedi, 65-year-old Srikant Chaturvedi, 67-year-old Baijanti Devi, 65-year-old Meeradevi and 41-year-old Bijay Lal Pandit from Mahottari Loharpatti Municipality 5.

A bus, Madhesh Province-03-001 B 7994, heading to Loharpatti in Mahottari from Kathmandu, met with an accident at Jitpursimara Sub-Metropolitan City-22, Churiamai of Bara along the East-West Highway at around 1 am Thursday.

The bus carrying 27 passengers including the driver fell into the river about 100 meters south of Churiamai Temple.

Seven people were injured in the accident. Among them, 15 are being treated at Hetaunda Hospital, 1 at Chure Hill Hospital, 1 at Sahakari Hospital and 1 at Old Medical College in Chitwan, DSP Tek Bahadur Karki, Police Spokesperson of District Police Office Makwanpur, told Nepalkhabar.

According to Karki, 48-year-old Ghanashyam Chaturvedi, who lives in Rajasthan, India (with leg and body injuries, normal condition) is being treated at Chure Hill Hospital, Hetaunda-11. Similarly, 41-year-old Ghuran Mandal of Dhanusha Mauwa Rural Municipality 18, Janakpur (left knee and hip injury, normal condition), 26-year-old Jasvender Paswan of Mahottari Loharpatti Municipality-5 (back/right hand injury, normal condition) were discharged from Hetauda Hospital after general treatment, police said.

Similarly, 53-year-old Maya Devi from Rajasthan, India (right hip injury, normal condition), 35-year-old Anil Kumar from the same place (head injury, normal condition), 50-year-old Tarawati Chaturvedi (forehead/waist injury, normal condition), her own granddaughter Kritika Chaturvedi ( condition normal), 48-year-old Shyam Lal Mali (left leg/chest injury, normal condition), 47-year-old Harwari Mali (head and back injury, normal condition), 70-year-old Chauthi Devi (right leg/chest injury, normal condition) are being treated at Hetaunda Hopital, said DSP Karki.

Similarly, 72-year-old Suresh Chandra Chakrawati from Rajasthan (right leg/left hip injury, normal condition), 63-year-old Dharam Singh (forehead, chest and left leg fractured), 60-year-old Indu Dhakad (forehead and chest injury normal), 16-year-old Garvida Chaturvedi (back injury) and 54-year-old Ramkumar Chaturvedi of the same place (left knee and chest injury, normal condition) are receiving treatment at Hetaunda Hospital in Makwanpur.

According to the police, 38-year-old Bihari Mukhiya of Mahottari, Jaleshwar Municipality (mouth injury, left leg fracture, normal condition) is being treated at Sancho Hospital, Hetaunda 1, while 73-year-old Ram Prasad from Rajasthan, India (chest and stomach injuries) has been referred to Old Medical College, Bharatpur in Chitwan.
