Former captain of the Nepali national cricket team Paras Khadka has been elected as the president of the Provincial Cricket Association, Bagmati.
He received 23 votes in the election held at a hotel in Dhobighat, Lalitpur on Friday.
Khadka got 23 out of 37 votes in Bagmati province. While his rival Chitwan District Cricket Association representative Umesh Piya received 14 votes.
Prem Chhetri has won the position of vice president of Bagmati, Prashanna Shakya of Lalitpur from Paras group as secretary, Sanjaya Basnet of Bhaktapur as treasurer.
Members from Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur and Makwanpur supported Paras while those of Chitwan and Nuwakot voted against him.
Paras, who resigned from the national cricket team with the aim of leading CAN, is now eying the post of secretary of CAN, after winning the state presidency, a source close to him said.
He joined the District Cricket Association, Kathmandu as a member and became a representative to contest the provincial elections.
