Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has bidden adieu to a Nepali team participating in the 19th Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou, China.

Prime Minister Dahal bade farewell to the players, coaches, and the team managers at a program organized at the prime minister’s official residence on Thursday.

Expressing best wishes to the team in the program, Prime Minister Dahal said, “Nepal has achieved a good success in the martial arts in the past. The government is confident that we will do well this time, too. Nepal has been performing brilliantly in the national and international competitions, of late. I feel proud of seeing your relentless efforts and dedication. You will perform even better this time and take the image of the country to a newer height.”

Prachanda further said that the players have made preparations for the last two and a half months and that he will go to China to watch to games to encourage the Nepali team.

“I have heard that you have undergone a closed training session for two and half months. I am confident that Nepal will perform brilliantly this time. I am also going to China to watch games. I believe that Nepal’s participation will help establish sports diplomacy, the Prime Minister said.

Prime Minister Dahal said that the news that the players have not received the awards announced earlier has made him serious and assured that it will be resolved soon.

In the 19th Asian Games, 253 players, 51 coaches and team managers of 29 games, 127 women and 126 men, are participating in 29 games on behalf of Nepal.

The Asiad will be held from September 23 to October 8. Even though it is inaugurated on September 23, the games will start from September 19 itself.
