Foreign tourists, who were heading to Ramaroshan, a popular tourist destination in Sudurpaschim Province, have been stranded in Achham district.

District Administration Office, Achham, intercepted them on their way to Ramaroshan, for not taking permission.

“More than 200 tourists from different countries were barred from visiting Ramaroshan for not taking permission,” said Achham CDO Sharad Kumar Pokharel.

“They have not taken permission to visit Ramaroshan. They have only visas,” said Pokharel, “We stopped them for security reasons after being tipped that a large number of tourists were going to stay in the area for over a month.”

Tourists from over 35 countries including America, Canada, Poland, Italy, Sweden, Israel, France, Spain, German, Thailand, Japan, and India are arriving in Nepal to visit Ramashan.

Till Monday, 202 tourists have reached Achham. Some of the tourists have been stopped at the Achham district gate while some have been intercepted near Ramaroshan.

Tourists are arriving in Achham to participate in the gathering of the Rainbow Family.

A horde of tourists arriving at a time is likely to pose many challenges including security, toilet, garbage and harm to wildlife.

Rama and Roshan are the two wetlands at the altitude of 2,500 meters just in 30 minutes’ walk from each other. A legend has it that the name Ramaroshan derives from the names of two beautiful plateaus ‘Rama’ and ‘Roshan’. Another legend tells God Rama who used to come to the peaceful place called Roshan, while the other legend says that Lord Shiva and his wife Parwati came to this place for their honeymoon.

Ramaroshan has 12 lakes and 18 stunningly lustrous green pastures, locally known as patans. To the northern side, lies an unbroken series of sedimentary rocks where the local people harvest honey from 100 meters high cliffs.

During the Ramaroshan trek, we see the view of Budhi Ganga River Basin, Mt. Api and Mt. Saipal and Badi Malika Temple. This region is equally beautiful for landscapes, traditional villages and flora and fauna.

Ramasoshan Trek starts with city flight to Dhangadi and we spend a night and visit Mohana Corridor and Tharu Village. Next day we drive to Safebagar which takes 7 to 8 hours through hilly area and at Jugada, we start and end the trek near Safebagar. The best season for Ramaroshan Trek is autumn and spring.
