Nepal has booked a berth in the semi-finals of the ICC Men’s T20 Asia Region Qualifier with one match to spare by registering a six-wicket win against Malaysia on Tuesday.
Chasing the 166-run target set by Malaysia at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Nepal reached it in 18 overs losing four wickets.
Nepal’s Kushal Malla topped the score with 65 runs including two fours and seven sixes off 34 deliveries. Kushal Bhurtel and Aasif Sheikh made 43 and 32 runs. Similarly, Sundeep Jora contributed 18 runs.
In reply, Muhammad Amir took three wickets while and Pavandeep claimed one wicket for Malaysia, respectively.
Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss, Malaysia notched up 165 runs losing nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Syed Aziz made the highest 68 runs including eight fours and two sixes off 49 balls while Zubaidi Zulkifle scored 24 runs including three fours off 16 balls. Similarly, Sharvin Muniandy and scored 24 and 13 runs, respectively.
On the bowling side, Abinash Bohara claimed the highest four wickets conceding 27 runs in 4 overs while Sandeep Lamichhane, Gulsan Jha and Rohit Paudel have taken one wicket each for Nepal so far.
Nepal's Kushal Malla is declared as the Player of the Match.
