Nepal has lost to Oman by five runs in the ninth match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier on Thursday.
Oman restricted Nepal to 140 runs while the latter was chasing the 146-run target at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur.
Bilal Khan took the highest three wickets conceding 30 runs in four overs. Similarly, Shakeel Ahmed, Mehran Khan, Aqib Ilyas took two wickets each while Zeeshan Maqsood claimed one wicket to restrict Nepal from reaching the target.
Nepal’s Bibek Yadav made the highest 39 runs with the help of five sixes off 24 runs while Kushal Bhurtel and Karan KC notched up 26 and 15 runs, respectively.
Other batsmen of Nepal were sent to the pavilion chiefly.
Ealier, invited to bat first after losing the toss, Oman notched up 145 runs losing nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs.
Oman’s skipper Zeeshan Maqsood made the highest 32 runs including one four and three sixes off 26 balls. Similarly, Naseem Khushi and Pratik Athavale contributed 25 and 24 runs, respectively.
In reply, Karan KC took the highest three wickets giving away 43 runs in four overs for Nepal. Sompal Kami and Sandeep Lamichhane have claimed two wickets each while Gulsan Jha and Abinash Bohara claimed one each.
However, Nepal has already booked a berth in the semi-finals of the ICC Men’s T20 Asia Region Qualifier by registering a six-wicket win against Malaysia, despite loss to Oman.
