Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of a large number of people and their wealth due to the earthquake and said that the disaster should be used as an important opportunity for reconstruction.

Speaking at the 13th meeting of National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority held on Sunday morning to discuss the damage incurred by the earthquake in Jajarkot and Rukum West and the measures to be taken by the government, the Prime Minister directed everyone to be serious about making post-disaster rescue, relief and reconstruction effective.

In the meeting, Prime Minister Dahal said, "I would like to thank everyone for the initiatives taken by all parties, the federal government and various agencies, province governments and local governments after the earthquake." Yesterday we had to do search, rescue and treatment, we basically completed that work. Now the focus should be on relief and rehabilitation.

Mentioning that there is a need for warm clothes because of the winter season, he emphasized that the treatment process should be made more effective.

Referring to the fact that Nepal is a country at risk of natural disasters, Prime Minister Prachanda said, "The government has not reached the level of initiative that should be taken, the level of awareness that should be increased among the people. Preparatory has not been reached. It is necessary to think seriously about it.

Prime Minister Prachanda called for efforts to do maximum good for three days of relief and said, “Rehabilitation should be made effective. It requires the necessary laws, procedures and structures. The existing laws, methods and structures are not effective in the reconstruction work, we should also review the past experience. Let us work to make it more effective in the coming days, taking lessons from the earthquake of 2015.”
