Hong Kong defeated Nepal by nine wickets in the second group-stage match of the Women's T20 Quadrangular Series.
Chasing the 57-run target set by Nepal on Thursday, Hong Kong reached it in nine overs losing one wicket. Natasha Miles and Shanzeen Shahzad and made 30 and 20 not-out runs, respectively, while Mariko Hill contributed five runs.
Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss against Hong Kong Nepal was all out for 56 runs in 18 overs.
Rubina Chhetry topped the score with 25 runs including four fours while the other batsmen could not reach the double-digit runs. Nepal started badly as it lost six wickets for 24 runs in seven overs.
To restrict Nepal to a low target, Hong Kong’s Iqra Sahar took the highest three runs, Ruchitha Venkatesh grabbed two wickets while Betty Chan, Mariko Hill and Kary Chan claimed one wicket each.
With the consecutive second defeat, Nepal’s journey to reach the final of the series has ended. In its first match, Nepal lost to Tanzania by 27 runs.
Four countries- hosts Hong Kong, Nepal, Tanzania and Japan – are participating in the series. Nepal is ranked 21st in the ICC rankings, Tanzania 19th, Hong Kong 22nd and Japan 51st.
Nepal will its final group-stage game against Japan on November 18.
