Chhath: Argha offered to the setting sun (photos)

Chhath festival is being celebrated by worshiping the Sun God across the country today (Sunday).

The devotees offered argha to the setting sun this evening and are staying awake all night.

Rivers, streams, and ponds in the Mithila Region and the Valley have been decorated like a bride. Argha was offered to the setting sun from 13 different reservoirs in the Kathmandu Valley.

President Ramchandra Paudel, Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Balendra Shah among others reached Garighat to celebrate Chhath festival on Sunday afternoon.

It is believed that observing a fast in obeisance of the Sun God will bring in desired results and well-being for the family and remove all sorrows and troubles.

The four-day-long festival which started with Nahay Khay on Friday ends formally on Monday morning after offering argha to the rising sun.
