Five former chairpersons of the provincial committees of main opposition CPN (UML) have been nominated as members of the central committee (CC).
A central secretariat meeting of the UML held at Chyasal in Lalitpur on Friday took a decision to this effect, said General Secretary Shankar Pokharel.
With this decision, Tulasi Prasad Neupane from Koshi, Keshav Raj Pandey from Bagmati, Binod Shah from Karnali, Damodar Bhandari from Sudurpaschim and Ram Awatar Yadav from Madhesh Province have become central members of the party, according to Pokharel.
These five UML leaders, who had been chairpersons of the UML Provincial Committee, handed over the leadership to the new committee through the provincial committee convention held recently.
Similarly, UML Jhapa District Committee Chairman Deepak Karki has also been nominated as CC member, said Pokharel.
