The Election Commission (EC) has called for objections and complaints, if any, against the candidates who filed nominations for the Nominations on Monday.
As many as 52 candidates have filed their nominations for 19 vacant posts in the National Assembly elections to be held on January 25.
The Election Commission has said that claims or complaints against the candidacies, if any, can be filed today.
After examining the complaints filed against the candidates, the EC will publish the list of candidates on January 10 and 11.
Candidates who want to withdraw their candidacies can do so on January 12 and the final list of candidates will be published on the same day.
After publishing the final list of candidates, the EC will provide an election symbol to the candidates on January 13.
The National Assembly election is scheduled to be held on January 25 (from 9 am to 3 pm). There are 2 thousand 47 voters for the National Assembly election.
The term of office of 20 MPs of the National Assembly is expiring on March 3. Of them, 19 members will be elected through the elections while the remaining one will be nominated by the President on the recommendation of the government.
A constitutional provision has it that the elections must be held one month before the expiry of the term of office of the members of the National Assembly.
