Koshi Province is holding elections to elect a new speaker of the province assembly today (Tuesday).

A business advisory committee meeting of the province assembly held this morning decided to hold elections at 3 pm.

It is likely that Ambar Bahadur Bista, a province assembly member of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) is likely to be elected as the speaker with the support of the ruling alliance.

The ruling alliance has decided to support RPP and the party has decided to field Bista in the election of the speaker.

Meanwhile, main opposition CPN (UML) is holding a parliamentary party meeting to finalize a candidate for the post of the speaker.

The speaker’s post has been lying vacant in Koshi Province Assembly for a long time.
