The candidates willing to withdraw their candidacies filed for the National Assembly elections can do so and that the final-list of the candidates will be published today itself.
After publishing the final list of candidates, the EC will provide an election symbol to the candidates on Saturday (January 13).
As many as 52 candidates have filed their nominations for 19 vacant posts in the National Assembly elections to be held on January 25.

The term of office of 20 MPs of the National Assembly is expiring on March 3. Of them, 19 members will be elected through elections while the remaining one will be nominated by the President on the recommendation of the government.
A constitutional provision has it that the elections must be held one month before the expiry of the term of office of the members of the National Assembly.
