Nepali Congress leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula has been elected as a member of the National Assembly from Koshi Province.

Sitaula won the election by defeating Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) leader Uddhav Paudel. Paudel was backed by UML.

A total of 153 local representatives voted for Sitaula while 109 cast votes for Paudel.

Similarly, out of 93 province lawmakers, 45 voted for Sitaula while 47 voted for Paudel.

In Koshi Province Assembly, there are 47 lawmakers from the ruling alliance. One lawmaker did not vote for Sitaula while one vote was declared invalid.

Likewise, four votes were declared invalid under the local category.

Sitaula has presumably received some cross votes from UML.
